Arizona

The Mogollon Rim

If I could think of one word to describe Arizona it would be diverse.  The Mogollon Rim is a place full of wonder as well as secrets; much of the area is still undeveloped wilderness and is very remote. A vast array of places can be had within a day’s venture, from sweeping plateaus to deep mossy slot canyons.  For those who seek these dubious slots, the price of admission is high but rewarding. Canyons are often difficult to find, full of cold water, questionable anchors, and require brutal return hikes.  But if you happen to find one, you will not forget it; some of the most remote and fantastic wilderness in the West can be found deep within the forest.

The Colorado River and its tributaries

Within the heart of the Colorado Plateau, the Colorado River and its drainages have cut some of the most spectacular gorges in the southwest.  Time is the name of the game here; canyons are often immensly deep, rugged and full of secrets.  The beauty is unparalled.  Paradise and peril coexist.

Northern Arizona

You will find no forest here; this land is a stark contrast to the neighboring Mogollon Rim.  Great slickrock domes and hills dominate the landscape, a seemingly infinite sea of waves of stone.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder however, for it is a dramatic world of wonders; it is the desert at its best.
