James Canyon is just outside of Flagstaff and is a common introductory canyon for good reason. It has a great taste of all aspects of the sport at a low dosage. Several cold, stagnant pools to wade, a few great sections of narrows, two easy rappels, and a good dose of boulder hopping. As well, the overall route length is fairly short. All the reasons mentioned make this a great, easy sunday stroll as far and canyoneering routes go. Just enough to get ya hooked. If you like this canyon you will love canyoneering, if you do not like this experience I would not suggest continuing the sport. The photo album on this site is very old, I have technically lost the original photos, all that is left is the old album.
