So since this website is aimed and chronicling every canyon I come across, Fern Canyon has made its way into the database. The name on topo maps is Home Creek and this route is an out and back thru a magnificent fern lined canyon. This is a short easy walk and really isn’t incredibly interesting by technical canyoneering standards but is a very unique canyon in Northern California. This is a flowing creek that has carved a very cool woody box canyon that is lined with beautiful ferns along both its walls. Though not technical, this route is definitely worth the time and driving to get to it. These are some fairly old photos but nonetheless do capture a hint of the beauty of this place. This is located within Prairie Creek Redwood State Park in Northern California, well off the beaten path but a phenomenal part of the California Coastline.
