El Capitan Canyon
El Capitan Canyon is a highly underrated slot canyon. Sure, it is in the middle of nowhere, and sure, it is relatively short, and sure, it is not technically very demanding, but it is still a great way to spend a day and definitely much nicer than people give it credit for. The narrows are beautiful and unique, and the access is nice and easy. For what it lacks in excitement and inconvenient location it makes up for in being very pleasant. This canyon has 3-6 rappels depending on your ability and comfort down-climbing. Most of them are short and there is nothing over 40 feet. This is commonly a beginner’s canyoneering experience and for good reason; a descent of El Capitan Canyon is a great way to get just about anyone hooked to the sport.
