I don’t think there could be a more fitting name to this route. Devil’s Canyon does have some very nice scenery, once you get to it; which is what makes this hike not quite as appealing as others. The short section of canyon is quite nice – and it does have some great pools that are particularly nice in spring, but the work to fun ratio is heavily skewed on this one, offering a large amount of pain and punishment in relation to how much canyon you get. This is a route worth doing, once, in my opinion. The canyon is unique and the biggest saguaros I have ever seen lie near the pools. The technical section has a couple rappels that are nice, though at least two of them can be jumped depending on the size of your balls, pardon my language. Once you finish the narrows, struggle back the way you came.
