Deer Creek – East Fork
By all accounts, you would think this canyon would be incredibly dramatic, narrow and technical, but alas it is not. The topo maps and satellite photos show something greater than what is really there. It is definitely a beautiful canyon regardless, but compared to its sister tributaries it is the lesser of the bunch. There are two drops with the biggest weighing in at 140 feet and a shorter one around 20 feet or so. Definitely some nice narrows but the are short lived. This would potentially be a good canyon to do early or late in the season since there was only one pool when we were here, a short swimmer. The complete loop is a 2-3 day venture, and is a great wilderness route to some little visited terrain in Grand Canyon.
